The Authentic Value of Hosting a Podcast
“What do you get from having a podcast?”
I get asked about this a lot, especially when people find out that my podcast comes out five times a week and that we've done over 750 episodes already. I can see why that might seem like a crazy amount to some people. But for me, podcasting isn't just some chore I have to get through. It's something I really love doing, and it's been an amazing source of growth, both personally and professionally.
Let me walk you through all the different reasons why podcasting means so much to me and why you might want to consider giving it a try yourself.
A Passion for Learning and Teaching
At the heart of why I love podcasting so much is this deep craving I have for learning and sharing knowledge. Every time I record an episode, it's a chance for me to dive headfirst into new ideas and perspectives that just get me fired up.
The best conversations are the ones where I find myself furiously scribbling down notes because it means all these lightbulbs are going off in my head. Those are the moments that remind me why I started this podcasting journey in the first place – that thirst to just soak up new information like a sponge.
No matter how long I've been working in fields like sales, operations, leadership, business, training, coaching, writing, social media, content creation, you name it - there's always something fresh to discover. Each guest brings their own unique background and point of view to the table. So even if I think I have a decent handle on a concept, they'll hit me with some novel insight or terminology that suddenly flips that whole idea on its head for me.
That constant influx of new-to-me knowledge and perspectives? That's what keeps my mind sharp and my approach innovative. It's what drives me to keep learning and keep creating great content to share it all.
The Ripple Effect of Shared Knowledge
Whenever I have amazing guests on the show who share their expertise, I don't want that knowledge to just stay between us. I really believe that if they're teaching me something incredible, my listeners deserve to learn from it too.
That's the whole point - to give you all access to a treasure trove of insights and advice you can actually use in your own life and career. By having these open conversations and exchanges of ideas, I'm hoping it creates this ripple effect where the knowledge and inspiration just keeps spreading outward. It's about making sure that wisdom doesn't stay contained, but gets passed along to enrich as many people as possible.
